Sourcing Engineer Sr

Purpose Statement:  Responsible for the team who owns the proper execution of component costing by utilizing industry experience, should cost software, costing team members, and supplier relationships to ensure Plexus maintains industry leading component pricing.

Key Job Accountabilities:

• Conduct industry research and have a high degree of technical and business knowledge within assigned commodities.
• Accurately and timely evaluate engineering specifications to determine correct supplier capability requirements by clearly identifying specifications; including, but not limited to, material and tolerance attributes.
• Direct costing and manage quotation requests with appropriate suppliers to ensure Plexus Corp. obtains industry competitive component pricing within the requested time frame.
• Solid understanding of the manufacturers, suppliers and marketplace for the assigned commodity and communicate this understanding to estimators, buyers, engineers, and costing personnel.
• Provide functional guidance to junior / new hire in accomplishing operational objectives and accountable to execute on Plexus’ talent strategy.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4 or more years of related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

• Procurement, supply chain, distribution, and logistics competence
• Strong experience driving KPIs
• Demonstrated commodity management expertise
• Ability to communicate at all levels within an organization
• Strong data analysis and decision-making capabilities
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Project management experience

Physical Requirements:  

• Professional office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and low noise level. May require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and other office equipment. Minimal physical activity is generally involved, emphasizing the importance of good posture and ergonomic workplace arrangements.

Travel Requirements:  

• Less than 40%
