Job Summary:
The Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse (WOC Nurse) will be assigned to perform and assist with assessments, interventions, and evaluations for patients with actual or potential wound, ostomy, and/or continence problems. The WOC nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care, education, and clinical consultation in the outpatient and inpatient settings. The WOC nurse will collaborate/coordinate care with overseeing providers, nurses, and other health care team members to assess patient needs and to establish and execute an appropriate plan of care to meeting the rehabilitation needs of the patient. The WOC nurse will communicate with providers, coworkers, other staff and patients/families as appropriate about changes in the patient’s clinical condition and is able to respond appropriately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Responsibilities include the systematic collection and assessment of data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic care for the patient and/or family. The WOC nurse is expected to competently perform the patient care responsibilities under direct and indirect supervision of providers orders. The WOC nurse also performs other related tasks for documentation and supply management. The WOC nurse will provide relevant training and education to staff as needed. The WOC will actively seek and assist with other clinical tasks within the General Surgery Clinic.

Educational Requirements:
ADN or BSN for an accredited school of nursing. Current State Registered Nurse licensure within state of practice. Specialty board certification in Wound, Ostomy, and continence care strongly preferred (must obtain within 12 months of hire).
Current State Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of practice.
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
Experience:
Wound care specialty training is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Basic computer knowledge.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of safety principles and infection prevention in the patient care environment.
Ability to assess patient’s needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care.
Must be ablet o pass N-95 respiratory testing or have the ability wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) annually.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
