Summary:
The role involves supporting Marine R&E budget management through financial analysis, accounting reconciliation, data investigation, and structured problem solving. The candidate will work closely with various teams to understand financial reports and trace data back to its source. This position contributes to the growth strategy by developing budgeting and financial analysis tools.
Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve budget discrepancies by tracing unexplained charges to the appropriate source.
- Reconcile affordability, forecasts, actuals, and RBM reporting; investigate missing or delayed invoices and classification issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis of recurring data-quality problems and implement corrections with business resources.
- Define finance business rules and data-quality controls for implementation with the Data Science team.
- Enhance program-level traceability and establish sustainable processes for budget management.
- Collaborate with functional leads to gather necessary information and meet defined goals.
- Alternate between team collaboration and independent data analysis.
- Present findings, planned solutions, and timeline expectations to the work director.
Qualifications
- 8-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting, or a relevant field.
- Internship experience is accepted as job experience.
- Background in roles such as Business Analyst or Accountant is comparable.
- Experience developing data-quality or reconciliation controls.
- Ability to summarize complex topics into a simple narrative.
- Effectiveness in working across Finance, Engineering, BR, and Data Science teams.
Skills
- Ability to reconcile large datasets and investigate financial discrepancies.
- Strong written documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Informal project leadership; coordinating delivery across a team on small-scale projects.
- Strong Excel and financial data analysis skills.
- Familiarity with Power BI and data models.
- Experience in transaction-level root-cause analysis.
- Experience in performing root-cause analysis rather than simply reporting variances.
Pay Transparency:The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $42.00 - $44.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
