Business Analyst

Location: Oakland, CA

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid β€” local candidates (Bay Area) work hybrid with monthly in-person meetings required; non-local/remote candidates required to attend quarterly in-person meetings in Oakland.

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 5 months
  • Pay Rate: $55.00–$60.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Equipment Provided: Laptop and cell phone will be provided. For the first 1–4 weeks, a personal or supplier-issued laptop is required; log in via Citrix until the provided laptop is available.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

ThisBusiness Analyst role supports moderately complex analytical work within a large California-based energy utility organization. The analyst will work independently and collaboratively, performing data analysis, custom reporting, and research while engaging with peers and project teams across and outside the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on moderately complex data models selecting from various reports and data options.
  • Determine data needs, collect data, and select from different analytical techniques to achieve desired data outcomes.
  • Understand business needs, develop new reports, and perform custom/ad-hoc reporting working independently. Present findings to various audiences.
  • Perform basic research internally and externally.
  • Communicate with peers inside and outside the department exchanging ideas or gathering information.
  • Participate on project teams.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in Market Research, Consulting Skills, and Project Management Skills
  • General understanding in Operational Monitoring & Analysis, Advocacy and Persuasion, and Presentation Skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline β€” or equivalent work experience required.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience
