Description: An examination of Quebec and other secondary school social studies curricula: Objectives; theoretical orientation; course structures; curriculum resources. Teaching and learning methodologies both common to the social studies and specific to the disciplines of history, geography, and economics.
This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1. Master educator with an MA in a relevant field (i.e. social studies education, social studies teaching and learning) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/teacher/pedagogueÂ
2. PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an assetÂ
Experience:
1.Expert knowledge of:
- Methods of teaching the social studies curriculum in the secondary schools of QuebecÂ
- Disciplinary underpinnings of the main area(s) of inquiry in the social studies and the ways in which they can be taught for meaning and understandingÂ
- The epistemological workings of at least one main discipline underlying the social studies (history)Â
- A diverse range of approaches, methods, and strategies for the teaching of social studies (history)Â
2. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate levelÂ
3. Experience as a history/social studies teacher/educator in the Quebec educational systemÂ
Other:
1.Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusionÂ
2.Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences Â
3.Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
4.Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning toolsÂ
5.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
