Location: Austin, TX (In Office), Pearland, TX (In Office)

Pay Range

$84,000 – $200,000+ total compensation

The Role

Buc-ee’s is hiringCategory Analysts to analyze and improve performance across major merchandise categories.

This role sits at the intersection ofdata, pricing, merchandising, suppliers, and in-store execution.

You will not simply report numbers. You willidentify opportunities, influence decisions, and help drive category performance.

Ideal candidates will bring fresh perspectives, with no background in category management required.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Creating and developing a long-term plan and ongoing strategy for development of the category

  • Manage, analyze, and monitor market changes in product mix and retail prices to ensure compliance to the category pricing strategy

  • Analyze category performance includingsales, margin, pricing, and assortment

  • Identify opportunities throughSKU performance, pricing analysis, and promotional effectiveness

  • Build and maintaincategory performance dashboards and reporting

  • Conductcompetitive analysis and market monitoring

  • SupportSKU rationalization and assortment planning

  • Turn data intoclear insights and recommendations

  • Project management which will include developing project plans, processes, and timeline

  • Partner with IT and data teams to understandenterprise reporting and data flows

  • Develop key supplier relationships for category management initiatives

Who This Role Is For

  • Can identify meaningful insights inside large datasets

  • Communicate conclusions simply and clearly

  • Care aboutimproving outcomes, not just building reports

Expertise is only as valuable as your willingness to evolve. We prioritize candidates who are agile learners and eager to challenge their own assumptions to find better ways. Experience is not required.

Required Capabilities

  • Advanced Excel skills (non-negotiable)

  • Experience working withlarge datasets

  • Strong analytical and organizational ability

  • Data visualization experience (Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar)

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • Ability to managemultiple analytical priorities simultaneously

Education & Experience

  • BA/BS + 2–4 years relevant experience

or

  • Master’s degree + 1–2 years relevant experience
