We're actively seeking an experiencedQuality Mechanical Inspector to support our team at a supplier site inEnfield, CT. This is afull-time, 6-month contract opportunity working Monday through Friday, with the potential for extension.
Not located in Connecticut? No problem. We welcome qualified candidates from across the U.S. who are willing to travel or temporarily relocate for the assignment.SQA provides travel assistance and lodging for the duration of the contract, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced inspectors who are open to a travel assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performvisual, physical, and dimensional inspections of machined parts, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections
- Inspect parts againstengineering drawings, specifications, and inspection plans to verify conformance
- Perform inspections ofcritical features and witness inspections as required
- Verify that the appropriateinspection methods and measurement equipment are being used based on drawing requirements
- Review and validateinspection plans and supporting quality documentation
- Compilefinal inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages
- Identify and documentnon-conformances (NCRs) and submit findings for customer disposition
- Review and validate justification for features or parts not inspected during final inspection
- Accurately document and maintain inspection results within theQuality Management System (QMS)
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience performingmechanical and dimensional inspections
- Working knowledge ofAS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements
- Experience reviewingCertificates of Conformance (CoCs) and other quality documentation
- Working knowledge ofGD&T and dimensional inspection methods
- Proficiency withprecision measurement tools and inspection equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators
- Ability toread and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Experience followinginspection plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria
- Ability to accurately document inspection results and work within an establishedQuality Management System (QMS)
- Strongattention to detail with the ability to identify and document non-conformances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current or previousGD&T certification in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- High school diploma, GED, or technical school diploma; anengineering or related technical degree is a plus
- Knowledge ofmechanical contract manufacturing and Lean manufacturing principles
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least2 years of hands-on mechanical inspection experience
