Position Overview:Â
As a Ramp Agent, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading ofcustomer baggage, operating ground service equipment, and coordinating the servicing ofarriving and departing aircraft. You will also prepare aircraft cabins for departure, assist withramp services (including waste disposal and re-servicing of aircraft), and assist customers asneeded. This position may require you to work with multiple carriers and fulfill various duties asassigned. Ramp Agents must be comfortable interacting with customers and proficient in usingcomputers. The role requires the ability to work under stress, meet rigid time constraints, andwork outdoors in various weather and noise conditions.Â
Key Responsibilities:Â
Safely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo from the aircraft to theairportÂ
Guide aircraft to and from gate positions to maintain on-time connectionsÂ
Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and adverse weatherconditionsÂ
Operate ground equipment such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks, and belt loadersÂ
Ensure ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bag room for upcomingflightsÂ
Prepare the cabin for customer boarding, including cleaning seats, seat pockets, floors,galleys, and lavatoriesÂ
Assist with record-keeping and documentation to ensure accurate routing of baggage
Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions for yourself and others
Communicate effectively with managers and lead agents to manage daily schedules
Report equipment issues and breakdowns to facilitate quick repairsÂ
Work with multiple carriers, as needed, and perform other duties as assignedRequirements:Â
Must be at least 18 years of ageÂ
Able to work in extreme conditions (e.g., hot and cold weather) and small spaces
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)Â
Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language fluently.Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and baggage routingÂ
Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving recordÂ
Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skillsÂ
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidaysÂ
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectivelyÂ
Must pass an extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check, includingfingerprinting and a criminal history record check as mandated by federal law.
Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug test.Â
