SUMMARY OR GENERAL PURPOSE:
Provides access and information to the public to The Collective Community Arts Center on evenings and weekends. Serves as the building docent, welcoming people, explaining current exhibit, and distributing information about area arts and cultural opportunities; May assist with clerical and organizational tasks in support of the goals of the Arts and Cultural Resources Department. Serves as first point of contact for people visiting The Collective. Dependability is a key aspect of this position. The ability to translate written and spoken Spanish into English is desirable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:Â
- Perform routine office duties as needed, i.e., typing, answering phones, and copying material and other front desk tasks; track inventory and supplies necessary for front desk operations.
- Provide program and facility information to the public.
- Oversee the security of the facility including being a key holder, locking doors, enforcement of facility and programming policies and procedures, ensure a clean and safe environment for activities that take place within the facility; respond to emergency situations.
- Responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility; perform room set up and tear down as needed; perform basic maintenance of building and equipment as needed.
- Operate computer, copier, and other standard office equipment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Assist with Arts & Cultural Resources events at The Collective and off-site occasionally
- In the future may perform cash out, balancing revenues with receipts.Â
- Ability to multi-task
- Support other staff with front desk operations fulfilling immediate customer needs.
- Process reservations for The Collective, Festival Plaza, and the Starkey Building
- Update and maintain calendars
- Assist with social media and newsletter marketing efforts
- Deliver departmental promotional materials to designated locations
- Assist with hanging of rotating art displays
- Perform related work as required and assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Â Operate under the general guidance and supervision of the assigned Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE:  Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment including a computer. Knowledge of customer relations techniques, i.e., fostering a positive attitude, maintain a courteous, helpful and professional demeanor. In depth knowledge of the principles and procedures of clerical and office tasks.
SKILL:Â Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the job functions.
ABILITY:  Effectively meet and interact with the public and manage stressful situations; follow both verbal and written instructions; issue clear concise verbal and/or written instructions to other employees and report operations verbally or in written form to superiors. Perform multiple tasks at relatively the same time; concentrate on detail; analyze situations thoroughly, identify potential problems, and find effective solutions. Respond tactfully and courteously to the public in answering questions; perform general clerical work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative.Â

EVIDENCE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING: Â High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Â One year experience in similar customer service environment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ability to speak, write and translate between English and Spanish is highly desirable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily working indoors and involves lifting, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, climbing, walking, and hearing. Requires the ability to move tables, chairs, and occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds. Must be able to work independently.  May, at times be in the facility alone. The ability to verbally communicate in a clear and concise manner is essential to this position. Interaction with the public and co-workers is an every day occurrence and requires multi-tasking

INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION:
Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgment to determine which methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor.

The ability to properly operate or use the following equipment is necessary for this position:Â computer, and associated software telephone, cash register, calculator, copier, credit card machine, and other office machines.
