1. JOB SUMMARY

Provides technical and operational support to Supplier Quality activities by performing incoming material inspections, measurements, containment activities, documentation and follow-up of supplier quality issues.

Supports Supplier Quality Engineers in maintaining supplier quality performance and ensuring purchased components comply with established quality requirements.

2. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspection and verification of incoming components and materials according to drawings, specifications, control plans and established inspection criteria.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Support containment and sorting activities related to supplier quality issues.
  • Identify, document, segregate and control nonconforming supplier material.
  • Support MRB activities by providing inspection results, measurements and evidence.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and supplier quality documentation.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers in the investigation of supplier-related quality issues.
  • Collect data, samples, pictures, measurements and other evidence required for problem-solving activities and supplier claims.
  • Support SCAR and 8D follow-up by maintaining records and verifying implementation of corrective actions as directed by the Supplier Quality Engineer.
  • Perform verification inspections after supplier corrective actions or containment activities.
  • Support PPAP activities through dimensional inspection, sample verification and documentation.
  • Support incoming inspection requirements for new product launches and engineering changes.
  • Assist Supplier Quality Engineers during supplier audits and supplier development activities.
  • Support supplier performance data collection and reporting.
  • Communicate detected supplier quality issues to the Supplier Quality Engineer and appropriate internal functions.
  • Support production areas when supplier-related material issues affect manufacturing operations.
  • Follow applicable Quality Management System, safety and environmental requirements.

3. EDUCATION

  • Technical degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electronics or related technical field.
  • Engineering studies in progress or completed are desirable.

4. EXPERIENCE

  • 1–3 years of experience in Quality, Incoming Inspection, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality or related functions.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience desirable.
  • Experience inspecting components such as plastics, metals, electronic components or assemblies is desirable.

5. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Practical knowledge of dimensional and visual inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as: CalipersMicrometersHeight gaugesPin gaugesProfile projectorsSurface finish testersCMM, desirable
  • Basic knowledge of SPC.
  • Basic knowledge of MSA and measurement systems.
  • Basic knowledge of PPAP and APQP.
  • Basic knowledge of 8D and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Understanding of nonconforming material control and MRB processes.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plastics, metals or electronics is desirable.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Minitab knowledge is desirable.
  • English: Basic to Intermediate.
