Ready to make a meaningful impact on the BES events programme? We're excited to offer volunteer opportunities to join our Events Committee! This is your chance to play a key role in shaping and guiding our diverse events portfolio, helping us bring to life our vision of a world where nature and people thrive.

As an Events Committee member, you'll engage in a wide range of activities that drive our events strategy, such as:

  • Choosing venues, plenary speakers, thematic sessions, and workshops for the Annual Meeting
  • A chance to join a sub-group that oversees the main conference programming
  • Evaluating registration fees, budgets, and policies related to BES events
  • Selecting symposia proposals through an open call and managing their budgets
  • Reviewing the annual plans and budgets for our Special Interest Groups

To achieve a balance of knowledge and skills in our groups, we are especially looking for people who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Diversity and inclusion strategies and actions
  • Evolutionary, Behavioural, or Microbial ecology
  • Palaeoecology or Environmental Physiology

We also hope that you will have an understanding of the work of the BES and be able and keen to represent the BES and our vision and aims.

We value the diversity and wide range of perspectives that people from different backgrounds bring to their work and to ecology, and we are committed to ensuring all our committees and working groups represent the diversity of our membership. For the Events Committee we are especially interested in hearing from:Ā 

  • Those with lived experience of neurodiversity
  • Those with lived experience of physical and/or mental health conditions that impact their day-to-day life
  • People that are passionate about developing inclusive events
