Thermal System Engineer – eAxle & eMachine

As Thermal System Engineer for eMachine & eAxle, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing thermal system concepts that ensure the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of electric powertrain systems. You will combine simulation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration while working closely with experts from electric machine, gearbox, power electronics, and software domains to support the successful development and validation of eMobility solutions.

Your Tasks

• Act as athermal system responsible for eMachine and eAxle, ensuring optimal thermal system performance and cost-competitiveness across platform and customer projects
• Develop & evaluateeMachine layouts andeAxle thermal system conceptsin collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Performsystem-level thermal simulations and predict thermal behavior of eAxle and eMachine components
• Plan, define, and conductthermal measurements, including analysis and interpretation of results, support validation process
• Development & continuous improvement ofthermal system simulation models. Ensurealignment between simulation and measurement data
• Serve as themain interface for thermal topics between key domains (electric machine, gearbox, power electronics) and towards internals/external stakeholders
• Support project teams as acore contributor, taking responsibility for thermal system related deliverables (e.g. requirement evaluation, customer communication, presentation of technical results towards the project, general support in thermal system related questions)
• Supportsoftware-related topics at system level, with basic understanding of control strategies, thermal management functions, and calibration logic

Your Profile

• Degree inMechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Automotive Engineering, Thermodynamics or a comparable field
• Thermodynamics Expertise: Strong knowledge in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and thermal cause-and-effect relationships on both component and system level.
• System-Level Understandingofthe overall functionality, requirements, and interdependenciesof electric powertrain components, including vehicle-level interactions
• Good understanding ofthermal system behaviour & cooling concepts in eMobility & powertrain applications
• Experience withsystemsimulation tools such as AMESIM, Simscape, Simulink or similar
• Proficiency inMATLAB and general engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, MS Office)
• Understanding of3D FEA & CFD simulation methods and corresponding tools (e.g. ANSYS, Fluent)
• Basic understanding ofautomotive embedded software architecture andsoftware-controlled thermal management strategies is considered an advantage
• Fundamental understanding ofmanufacturing and assembly processes,cost-effective design principles
• Stronganalytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, a highly cooperative mindset, and theability to thrive in a dynamic working environment
• FluentEnglish language skills
