About the team :

Walmart Mission Control aims to provide end-to-end visibility of transportation performance in near-real-time. This visibility aims to drive systematic monitoring and guided action to optimize cost and service and to mitigate supply chain issues upstream before they impact customers downstream. Within this team, you will work with some of the brightest engineers and architects to solvelarge-scale, mission-critical transportation challenges to leverage Walmart’s supply chain network.

What You’ll Do:

·       Design and developscalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot

·       Build and maintaindistributed, event-driven systems using Kafka

·       Deliver featuresend-to-end from development through production deployment

·       Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and architects to solve complex logistics challenges

·       Ensure systems meetnon-functional requirements such as performance, reliability, and scalability

·       Participate inCI/CD processes, code reviews, and engineering best practices

·       Support systems in production throughon-call rotations

What You’ll bring :

·       3-7 years of backend engineering experience

·       Strong proficiency inJava and Spring Boot

·       Experience buildingscalable microservices

·       Experience withevent-driven architectures (Kafka preferred)

·       Understanding ofdistributed systems and system design

·       Experience working inCI/CD environments (Git, Maven, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)

• Well versed with Testing frameworks like JUnit, Mocha, TestNG & Selenium
• Familiarity withcloud platforms, preferablyMicrosoft Azure
• Experience with databases:

o  NoSQL (Cosmos DB preferred)

o  Relational databases (Azure SQL or similar)

·       Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver high-quality solutions

Nice to Have

Familiarity withAI / LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic)

·       Solid understanding of core AI and LLM concepts ( Training vs. inference, Tokens and embeddings,  Prompt vs. model vs. context, Hallucinations and bias, Determinism vs. temperature and other generation parameters)
