Position Highlights

Spencer Hospital is a ruralhospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Assembles appropriate food and performs other necessary food service needs for all customers.
• Prepares meals making appropriate quantity of food items which meet standards of appearance and taste.
• Appropriately charge for food items and request payment through the point of sale computer; requires cash handling and card processing
• Plans food production to ensure food items will be ready when needed.
• Maintains a clean/neat, safe environment in work areas following appropriate sanitation practices.
• Keeps assigned work area stocked with supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

• Previous short order cooking experience required
• Must have excellent communication skills, a caring attitude and be a team player
• Comfortable engaging with patients, visitors, co-workers
• Must be able to work every other weekend

Schedule:

• 80 hours a pay period
• Scheduled 5 days per week including every other Sat & Sun
• Variable shifts starting no earlier than 5a and ending 7:30p - 6 week schedule is known 2 weeks in advance
• Every other holiday rotation
• The schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the department
