Corporate Accountant

• Join Te Pūtea Matua in a pivotal accounting role supporting the successful delivery of New Zealand's Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS). 
• Provide trusted financial advice and lead key financial reporting processes to support the DCS team
• Fixed term role until June 2028

Te tūranga | The role

You will play a critical role in ensuring DCS financial obligations are delivered to a high standard. You'll provide expert accounting support, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver sound financial outcomes. 

In this role, you'll: 

• Lead the preparation of DCS financial reporting, annual financial statements, budgeting and forecasting activities to support effective decision-making. 

• Partner with DCS leaders and stakeholders to provide trusted accounting advice, financial insights, and support compliance with reporting, expenditure and governance requirements. 

• Deliver high-quality management, Treasury, Board and regulatory reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax obligations and legislative requirements.

We're looking for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, can confidently navigate complex issues, and have a passion for delivering high-quality financial outcomes. 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring: 

• A tertiary qualification in accounting. 

• CAANZ membership or be working towards Chartered Accountant status (or international equivalent). 

• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements. 

• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, financial statements and management reporting. 

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. 

• Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to provide trusted financial advice to stakeholders. 

• Advanced spreadsheet and financial systems capability. 

• Experience with TechnologyOne would be advantageous. 

• Sound judgement and the ability to think strategically across a broad range of issues.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $109,466 to $130,000 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
