Overview:Â
We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Sr. Director, Tax Accounting & Reporting to lead the income tax provision and reporting process. This role will oversee quarterly and annual tax provision work under ASC 740, support SEC reporting requirements, drive process improvements, and partner cross-functionally across the business.Â
The ideal candidate is a former Big 4 Senior Manager or above level with strong tax accounting experience who has transitioned into industry.Â

Key Responsibilities:
Tax Provision & ReportingÂ
- Lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision process (ASC 740), including:Â Â
- Review and validate inputs driving the tax provision, including permanent differences and ETR driversÂ
- Current and deferred tax calculationsÂ
- Tax footnote disclosures for 10-K / 10-Q filingsÂ
- Ensure all legal entities are reflected appropriately in the provision process Â
- Apply strong technical knowledge of international tax matters and related reporting considerationsÂ
- Evaluate relevant tax positions, reporting considerations, and related tax implicationsÂ
- Review provision-to-return analysis and reconciliationÂ
- Co-source with external firm on US corporate income taxes filingÂ
- Lead the tax forecasting process to support the EPS and cash flow guidanceÂ
Process Improvement & SystemsÂ
- Drive automation and efficiency in tax provision processes (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, or similar tools)Â
- Reduce external tax review time as a result of standardized workpapers, footnotes and reconciliations. Â
- Support initiatives to improve close timelines and audit readinessÂ
Audit & Compliance CoordinationÂ
- Lead responses to external auditor inquiries on complex tax matters and maintain a strong working relationship with external auditorsÂ
- Lead technical tax research and documentation for complex Federal and State income tax matters, including analysis of new legislation, regulatory changes, and accounting pronouncements impacting tax positions and deferred tax balancesÂ
Leadership & Business PartnershipÂ
- Supervise and mentor tax team members, fostering technical development and accountabilityÂ
- Partner closely with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, and other cross-functional stakeholders on tax-related mattersÂ
Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA requiredÂ
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including:Â Â
- Big 4 experience (Senior Manager level or above)Â
- Industry experience leading tax provision end-to-end for a public multinational companyÂ
- Strong technical expertise in ASC 740 / income tax accounting and SEC reportingÂ
- Experience with tax provision software (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, TaxStream)Â
- Experience with tax forecasting process Â
- Effective communication with external and internal auditors, as well as cross-functional stakeholdersÂ
- Comfortable balancing technical depth with operational executionÂ
- Ability to manage complex, multi-entity tax environmentsÂ
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling global organizationÂ
The Salary Range for this role is$190,000 - $220,000. At AvePoint, we strive to offer competitive, fair, and equitable total rewards.
