Head of Information Management

Head of Information Management (IM) 🚀

The role holder will oversee and supportCompany-wide Information Management (IM) delivery 🌍 (across multi-disciplines) and play a lead role in developingIM Capability 📈 for the UK organisation to meet the needs of a wide range ofmarquee customers ⭐.

While the Head of IM does not undertake direct design responsibilities, a strong foundational understanding ofdesign and modelling processes 🏗️📐 is essential to effectively support and guide delivery teams.

Knowledge ofQuality Management Systems (QMS) ✅ anddata management workflows 🗂️ is highly beneficial, as the role includes supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing management of theCommon Data Environment (CDE) ☁️.

Responsibilities 📋

The role-holder may undertake a range of IM leadership roles, including leading projects on behalf of customers or delivering in response to customer requirements.

Duties will include:

🤝 Foster a collaborative working culture by liaising and coordinating effectively with project team members and stakeholders.

🧩 Manage and oversee federated3D models to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment across all disciplines.

🗓️ Attend project and design team meetings as required, providing input on information management and model coordination.

🔍 Coordinate and review3D models for clashes, leading clash detection processes and producing clear, actionable reports.

☁️ Establish and manage theCommon Data Environment (CDE), including defining processes and procedures to enable reliable and secure information exchange between project stakeholders.

🏛️ Define, agree, and implement the information structure for theProject Information Model (PIM), ensuring alignment with project and client requirements.

📥 Receive and validate information from multiple sources, ensuring compliance with theExchange Information Requirements (EIR) andBIM Execution Plan (BEP), and advise on any non-conformance.

🗃️ Establish and maintain robust record-keeping, archiving, and audit trail processes for thePIM.

🛠️ Support the development and implementation ofProject Information Plans (PIP) andAsset Information Plans (AIP).

🛡️ Apply a rigorous approach to ensure thatsafety standards and project targets are consistently met and maintained.

📝 Support legal and commercial teams inbid preparation, ensuring appropriate BIM and 3D model requirements and obligations are clearly defined.

⚡ Maximise the value of data exchange by enabling efficient workflows, early clash detection, and the timely availability of accurate, up-to-date information.

Key Experience 💼

📘 Expertise inISO 19650 and associated standards.

☁️ Expertise inCommon Data Environment (CDE) implementation and administration usingProjectWise.

🏗️ Expertise inmulti-dimensional design tools, includingAutodesk Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, Solibri, and DiRoots.

📐 Strong experience inDesign Management.

📊 Experience inDesign Reporting and communicating project performance effectively.

📝 Excellentreport writing capability with clear and structured documentation.

⏱️ Proven ability to deliver resultson time, to a high quality, and within budget.

🧠 Ability to rapidly gain understanding of thetechnical, behavioural, and contextual aspects of complex projects.

🔐 Strong awareness ofpersonal data and project data security requirements across both theMinistry of Defence (MOD) andOffice for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) environments, including classifications, vetting levels, SAL processes, and typical restrictions.

🌍 Understanding ofExport Control requirements and when they apply.

🛡️ Knowledge ofUK Government Security Classifications.

📋 Awareness ofUK GDPR legislative requirements, with a focus on practical compliance rather than specialist expertise.

🗂️ Understanding ofcontractual obligations relating to data retention and information governance.

Qualifications & Experience Required 🎓

🎓 Academic qualifications ofHNC/HND (or higher) in an engineering discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience.

🏆 Minimum of10 years’ experience within a relevant discipline.

🏭 Experience working inhighly regulated industries, includingNuclear, Energy, Water, Transportation, or Infrastructure sectors.

🏢 Substantial knowledge ofbuilding infrastructure assets.

📁 Proficiency inInformation Management (IM) standards, includingCOBie, IFC, and associated documentation.
