Baystate Health is seeking aPatient Care Technician to join ourMedical Surgical atBaystate Wing HospitalinPalmer, Massachusetts. OurMedical Surgical unit is a46-bed unit includes telemetry and intermediate care and provides care for the emergency department’s overflow. Nurses are cross trained to provide coverage in telemetry, IMC and the ED for this reason, making this a great opportunity for a new nurse looking to gain experience in multiple specialties.

Baystate Wing Hospital is a 74-bed community hospital in Palmer, Massachusetts, fully accredited by the Joint Commission and designated a Primary Stroke Service hospital by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

The Patient Care Technician Will:

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.  
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.  
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.  
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.  
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

• Schedule: Three twelve hour shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills

• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association
