What will you be doing? 

ALTEN UK is looking for an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineers to join a high-impact programme in thenuclear energy project in Bristol.  You’ll support the design and operation of control room systems and process displays, contributing to the engineering and integration oflogic systems across major infrastructure. Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Interpret and support the development oflogic diagrams,block diagrams, andprocess displays for control systems.
• Assist in designing and reviewingI&C system architecture, ensuring integration within nuclear-grade environments.
• Work within control rooms and operator environments, supportingHMI (Human Machine Interface) logic and display validation.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure functional logic supports system performance and safety needs.
• Apply understanding ofPLC systems and logic flow without direct involvement in PLC coding or development.
• Contribute to documentation, configuration management, and design tracking as per regulated project standards.

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

• Degree inInstrumentation & Control Engineering,Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Junior Engineer with up to3- 12 years of experience inI&C,electrical, orsystems engineering.
• Knowledge oflogic systems,HMI design, andcontrol room engineering environments.
• Strong ability to interprettechnical diagrams and process flowcharts.
• Comfortable working in highly regulated sectors such asnuclear,defence, orenergy infrastructure.
• Exposure to PLC environments (e.g. Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell) – understanding logic butno PLC coding required.

Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with control system engineering documentation, process control environments, or HMI-focused projects.
• Experience or academic exposure to industrial logic systems and functional architecture is preferred.
