Hygiene Officer

The Hygiene Officer helps maintain a safe and healthy environment for guests and colleagues at Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah. The role works closely with department leaders to uphold health and safety standards across the resort.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards, and take action to maintain health and safety compliance.
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, concerns, and complaints, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Keep the Cluster Director of Security informed of health and safety matters; coordinate with management, colleagues, and relevant local authorities.
• Establish and monitor workplace health and safety committees, and support safety education programmes.
• Ensure colleagues understand the resort’s emergency procedures. Maintain the emergency manual and conduct regular training and live fire drills.
• Stop work or close an area when a high hazard is identified, and promptly report it to the relevant department head and senior management.
• Review the Duty Manager and Night Manager log daily, taking action on relevant safety matters.
• Follow company policies and operational standards, handle sensitive information confidentially, and work with colleagues to improve quality and safety.
• Support task force teams for new openings and carry out other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hygiene, health and safety, or quality role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Sound knowledge of workplace inspections, hazard identification, incident investigations, and emergency procedures.
• Relevant health and safety or fire safety certification is an advantage.
• Strong communication, training, and reporting skills, with the confidence to work across departments and liaise with relevant authorities.

• Flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by operational needs.
• Able to respond promptly to safety concerns and emergencies across the resort.
• Strong attention to detail when conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and maintaining safety records.
• Confident in delivering training and working with colleagues across departments.
• Demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgement, and a proactive approach to safety.
