About the role
The IT Ops Engineer (Security & Systems) owns security operations across Articore's workforce identity, endpoints, and IT-managed SaaS — while also serving as the regional IT support anchor for our Australia office. The role sits at the intersection of security and operations, and is weighted approximately 70% security operations and 30% regional systems support.
You'll act as the security- and compliance-focused peer to our US and India regional engineers, reporting to the Head of IT. This is a high-trust, high-ownership role for someone who takes security seriously, communicates clearly across time zones, and takes pride in keeping a global organisation protected and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Identity & Access Management: Own day-to-day administration and tuning of Okta, SSO, and MFA controls for corporate systems. Provision, remove, and review user identities and entitlements through joiner/mover/leaver processes.
- Endpoint Security & Compliance: Manage CrowdStrike Falcon operational hygiene, alert triage coordination, and policy reviews. Administer JAMF security baselines, device compliance, and endpoint lifecycle controls.
- Access Governance & Audit: Run access review evidence collection and support periodic privileged access reviews. Track control health, collect audit evidence, and manage remediation work.
- Regional IT Support: Act as the AU escalation point for service desk requests and end-user issues. Support onboarding and offboarding execution, including device provisioning and access recovery for leavers.
- Cross-Team Coordination & Improvement: Coordinate with relevant internal teams where control ownership spans functions. Support phishing simulation and awareness training, and actively look for opportunities to automate repeatable security and support work.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, with meaningful exposure to security operations.
- Identity & Access Management: Hands-on experience administering an identity provider (Okta or similar), including SSO and MFA configuration.
- Endpoint Security: Demonstrated experience operating an EDR platform (CrowdStrike Falcon or equivalent) and an MDM tool (JAMF or equivalent) for macOS device compliance.
- Access governance: working knowledge of access review processes, audit evidence collection, and IT security governance.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence reporting on security posture to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Competencies
- Security-first mindset: you proactively identify and mitigate risk rather than waiting to be told, and you bring that lens to everything you touch.
- Ownership & judgement: you take end-to-end ownership of your projects and have the sound judgement to know when to act independently and when to escalate.
- Collaborative by nature: you work closely with the Head of IT and peer IT team members across the US and India to keep standards consistent and nothing falling through the cracks.
- Documentation first: you're comfortable operating in a distributed, cross-timezone team and understand that good documentation is what makes a globally distributed function actually work.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work model, with two-three days on-site presence required (Melbourne, AU).
- Availability for critical system support and emergency response as needed.
- Collaboration across time zones to support our global teams.
