Training: Volunteers have access to Waythrough’s training platform, Workday, and

will be asked to complete a number of training modules within their first 3 months.

About the role

As aGroup Facilitator Volunteer, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment for people accessing Derby City Life Links. You’ll work alongside staff to help facilitate wellbeing groups, peer support sessions, mental health workshops and courses, encouraging people to connect with others and develop their wellbeing and recovery.

You’ll regularly engage with people accessing the service, offering a friendly face, a listening ear and encouragement while helping people access activities and resources within the wider community.

Key duties

• Support and facilitate peer support groups, mental health workshops and courses.
• Welcome people attending the service and help create a friendly and inclusive environment.
• Offer a listening ear and encourage positive group discussions.
• Engage with people accessing the service and encourage mental wellbeing and recovery.
• Promote and signpost activities, resources and opportunities available within the wider community.
• Help set up and pack away group sessions, keeping communal areas tidy and welcoming.
• Work alongside staff to identify and report any concerns or risks.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow Waythrough policies and guidance.

About you

We’re looking for someone who isempathetic, open-minded and non-judgemental, with a genuine interest in supporting people's mental wellbeing and recovery. You’ll be confident building positive relationships with people from different backgrounds and able to work effectively as part of a team, while also using your own initiative when needed.

You’ll be reliable, committed and able to maintain professional boundaries. Good IT skills and timekeeping are important, as you’ll also be expected to complete relevant training and eLearning.Lived experience is welcomed, and you’ll have the opportunity to use your own experiences, where appropriate, to encourage and support people accessing the service.
