Position Summary

Help influence GreatAmerica’s future asa Corporate Finance Intern!  This internship is designed to recruit the best and brightest finance and/or economics students from four-year colleges and universities to strengthen our teams for the future. The internship is structured for time to be spent working within the Corporate FP&A and Treasury teams. The intern will perform financial analysis as well as present findings and recommendations to senior leadership. The intern will also assist in the development and enhancement of financial tools and models used to support strategic business decisions. Additionally, the intern will support the Treasury team’s ongoing cash management processes and perform analysis in support of optimizing our funding strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

•  Perform variance and trending analysis for certain company and business unit financial metrics and performance measures. Summarize findings for senior leadership along with recommendations.

• Contribute to monthly financial analysis and internal reporting presented to the leadership team.

• Assist in the preparation of the corporate and business unit 5-year financial models used to forecast operating results, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements. May also perform scenario analysis and decision support. 

• Maintain and update profitability and pricing tools using results from data analysis and 5-year financial models.

• Contribute data analysis and financial analysis to projects in other key areas of the company which have financial implications.

• Perform post-project analysis on completed projects to evaluate if planned outcomes were achieved.

• Make recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.

• Assist in evaluating the daily cash position of the company to ensure liquidity requirements are met while minimizing interest expense.

• Assist in the monitoring of bank fee expenses.

• Maintain and update cash flow forecasting tools to assist in the forecasting of ongoing cash and debt needs.

• Prepare securitization funding pools and coordinate the associated interest rate swap modeling and execution.

• Contribute to ongoing analysis and implementation of investment opportunities.

• Live the GreatAmerica principles; get involved in cross-functional team efforts as assigned and required.

• Perform other duties as required.

Position Qualifications

Education

• Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in Finance, Economics or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Experience

• No previous work experience required, but prior internships or work in finance is considered a plus.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and possess outstanding computer skills.  

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with all levels of the organization. 

• Organized, creative, team-player with initiative.

• Ability to respond well to challenges and have a strong desire to learn. 

• Ability to demonstratesound business judgment.

Computer Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Experience with Tableau or Microsoft BI is a plus.
