Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Product & IP Counsel to be part of making that happen.  Â
Reporting to the Senior Director, Intellectual Property & Product Law, this role partners across legal, engineering, product, security, and GTM teams to support product development, including managing risk, in a fast-moving cybersecurity environment.Â
This is a broad, hands-on role covering patents, trademarks, open source, AI/product counseling, and IP-related commercial support, with a clear path to expanded ownership over time.Â
Core Responsibilities:
1) Product & Engineering SupportÂ
- Advise product and engineering teams on legal issues across the product lifecycle (e.g., data use, integrations, encryption, export controls, OSS use)Â
- Review new features, architectures, and vendor integrations for IP and product riskÂ
- Support AI feature reviews, including participation in AI impact assessment processesÂ
- Help identify recurring risks and propose scalable solutions (AI agents and automations, playbooks, templates)Â
2) Open Source & Technology LicensingÂ
- Review and advise on open source software usage and licensingÂ
- Support OSS compliance processes and internal toolingÂ
- Assist with drafting and updating OSS and IP-related policies
3) IP Portfolio (Patents, Trademarks, Copyright)Â
- Support patent program, including invention harvesting, disclosure review, and coordination with outside counselÂ
- Assist with trademark clearance, filings, and portfolio managementÂ
- Contribute to IP enforcement strategy (e.g., reviewing infringement issues, demand letters)Â
4) Commercial & Vendor SupportÂ
- Partner with commercial legal team to support negotiation of IP, AI, and product-related termsÂ
- Review vendor agreements and technology partnerships for IPÂ and AIÂ issuesÂ
- Act as a subject matter resource on IPÂ and AIÂ clauses in customer and vendor contractsÂ
5) M&A and Strategic ProjectsÂ
- Support IP diligence for acquisitions and strategic partnershipsÂ
- Assist with integration of acquired IP and technology into company systems and portfolioÂ
6) Policies, Training, and Scaling Legal SupportÂ
- Help draft and maintain IP, AI, and product-related policiesÂ
- Deliver practical guidance and training to business teamsÂ
- Contribute to building scalable legal processes (e.g., templates, workflows, intake systems)Â
Experience & Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of legal experienceÂ
- Combination of:Â Â
- Law firm experience (required)Â
- In-house experience at a technology company (strongly preferred)Â
- JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. stateÂ
Core Skills:
- Strong practical judgment and ability to give clear, business-friendly adviceÂ
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product and engineering teamsÂ
- Comfortable handling multiple workstreams simultaneouslyÂ
- Clear, concise communicator (written and verbal)Â
Subject Matter Experience:
- Product counseling (AI, privacy, data use, integrations)
- Familiarity with at least two or more of the following:Â Â
- Patents and patent prosecution processÂ
- Open-source licensingÂ
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting SaaS productsÂ
- Exposure to AI/ML or data governance issuesÂ
- Experience participating in IP diligence for M&AÂ
- Technical background (engineering or software) is a plusÂ

The base salary range for this job family is 137,000 to 259,000 USD annually. This range reflects the base pay the company reasonably expects to offer for this position, aligned to the broader job family base pay structure. Actual base pay may vary based on skills, experience, and location, including job family level. In addition to base pay, Arctic Wolf offers variable incentive compensation, new hire equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
