Account Technology Strategist - Public Sector for Thüringen, Sachsen and Brandenburg

As an Account Technology Strategist within Microsoft's Public Sector organization, you will serve as the strategic technical advisor for a portfolio of state and local government customers across Thüringen, Sachsen, and Brandenburg. You will combine deep technical expertise with an understanding of federal structures, public-sector governance, procurement, security, and sovereignty requirements. Working alongside customers, partners, and Microsoft teams, you will help define long-term technology strategies, build scalable enterprise architectures, and guide complex transformation programs across ministries, state IT service providers, municipalities, justice, finance, and other public institutions. You will engage with CIOs, Chief Digital Officers, CISOs, Enterprise Architects, and technology leaders to translate policy and business priorities into actionable roadmaps and measurable outcomes.

You will help customers connect state-level strategy with practical implementation across heterogeneous environments and distributed municipal structures. The role offers scope to advance your skills in enterprise architecture, strategic technology consulting, executive engagement, and the orchestration of complex ecosystems spanning government, public IT providers, research institutions, and partners.

• Develop differentiated technology strategies and trusted-advisor relationships with state governments, municipalities, state IT service providers, and public institutions across Thüringen, Sachsen, and Brandenburg, acting as the customer's strategic technical advisor and bringing the Voice of the Customer into Microsoft, including requirements related to security, compliance, interoperability, accessibility, sovereignty, and public value.

• Design target architectures and transformation paths that connect cloud, hybrid, and legacy environments and can scale across ministries, agencies, municipalities, and shared-service structures.

• Create and execute mid- and long-term One Microsoft roadmaps spanning cloud modernization, Data and AI, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, modern work, and application modernization.

• Lead strategic technical discussions with CIOs, Chief Digital Officers, CISOs, Enterprise Architects, public IT providers, and executive stakeholders.

• Identify reusable approaches and opportunities for cross-agency, intermunicipal, and cross-state cooperation while respecting the distinct governance and operating models in each territory.

• Orchestrate virtual and cross-functional teams across sales, consulting, technical specialists, customer success, engineering, and partner organizations.

• Translate customer business priorities into scalable technology architectures and transformation programs, driving technical strategy and demand generation that positions Microsoft solutions as enablers of customer success and demonstrates measurable outcomes for public employees and the citizens they serve.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND several years of technical consulting, technical consultative selling, business consulting, practice building, or related technical or sales experience;
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Experience developing technology strategies and architecture recommendations for large organizations.
• Experience explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders, including at executive level.
• Business fluency in both German and English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with public sector organizations, including an understanding of public-sector governance, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, or compliance requirements in regulated environments.
• Experience designing architectures that span cloud, hybrid, and legacy environments across distributed or federated organizational structures.
• Experience orchestrating cross-functional or virtual teams across sales, consulting, engineering, and partner organizations.
• Preferably located within Thüringen, Sachsen, or Brandenburg, given customer needs. 

In line with our Flexible Work approach, for roles at Microsoft Germany, we recommend spending at least two days per week in the office or at the customer site.

Account Technology IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Germany is € 81,500.00 - € 139,200.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
