About you:
We are looking for aVision Systems Engineerwith strong expertise in optics and imaging systems who enjoys working across both theory and practice—from designing imaging setups and selecting cameras to building prototypes and deploying systems at customer sites.
As a Vision Systems Engineer at Apixa, you will play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of imaging systems used in our computer vision solutions. You will bridge the gap between optical hardware and vision algorithms, ensuring that the imaging setup delivers the data quality required for robust analysis.
This role combinessystem design, hands-on experimentation, and real-world deployment. You will work in our computer vision lab and workshop to prototype systems, test hardware configurations, and support installations at customer locations.
What will you do?
- Design and evaluate imaging systems for computer vision applications
- Select appropriateindustrial or scientific cameras based on project requirements
- Select and optimizelenses and optical components to ensure optimal image quality
- Analyze imaging performance (resolution, distortion, MTF, SNR, dynamic range, etc.)
- Work closely with software engineers to ensure imaging systems support computer vision algorithms effectively
- Perform camera calibration and system validation
- Stay up to date withnew camera technologies and imaging sensors entering the market
- Maintain strong relationships withcamera manufacturers and distributors (e.g., Stemmer Imaging, SICK, Basler, FLIR, etc.)
- Prototype and test imaging setups in ourcomputer vision lab and workshop
- Performbasic mechanical design for mounting cameras, lenses, and sensors
- Assemble and test prototypes and experimental setups
- Supportphysical installation and commissioning of vision systems at customer sites.
- MSc or PhD in Computer Vision, Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- You haveat least 3 years of experience in a business or industrial context
- Strong understanding ofoptics and imaging fundamentals
- Hands-on experience withindustrial or scientific camera systems
- Experience selecting cameras and lenses for real-world computer vision applications
- Familiarity with different imaging technologies (RGB, hyperspectral, thermal, etc.)
- Experience with camera calibration and imaging system characterization
- Basic electrical knowledge, including the ability to read electrical schematics and wire various electrical components
- Practical, hands-on mindset and ability to work in a lab/workshop environment
- You have agood knowledge of Dutch andEnglish, knowledge of French is a plus
- You take ownership of projects from start to finish
