Manager, Capital Markets Product Control

Job Description

What is the opportunity? 

As a Manager, Capital Markets - Mortgage Investment Group - Product Control, you will manage the delivery of Profit & Loss reporting and reconciliations. Analyze and report daily, weekly, and monthly trading activity in the Mortgage Investment Group (MIG) books, and ensure that all activity, reconciliations, and attestations are accurate and complete. Submit all monthly accounting entries to the General Ledger (G/L) and conduct reconciliations to ensure figures are properly tied back to the systems of records. Ensure there are key controls in place to attest to the integrity of MIG P&L. 

What will you do? 

• Produce weekly and monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) reports, month-end reporting, and reconciliations 
• Review and enter all monthly accounting entries to the General Ledger and conduct reconciliations to ensure figures are properly tied back to systems of records as reported in the Bank's financials 
• Address queries from external and internal clients regarding trade booking, P&L, spreads, and reporting issues 
• Prepare analysis and reports to meet ad-hoc requests such as client mark-to-market valuations, performance metrics, or regulatory disclosure requirements 
• Maintain complete and up-to-date daily and monthly procedure manuals and documentation for the area 
• Prepare the Standard of Documentation binder monthly for sign-off by Financial Control 
• Identify opportunities to improve the desk's reconciliation and reporting processes to streamline workflows and improve productivity 
• Provide recommendations to ensure adequate internal controls and data integrity across systems and databases 

What do you need to succeed? 

Must-have 

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills 
• 2+ years of experience in a Capital Markets environment and/or supporting a trading desk 
• Accounting knowledge for financial instruments (securities, cash products, derivatives) 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel 
• Ability to work in a high-demand environment with tight deadlines and solve problems quickly 

Nice-to-have 

• Understanding of mortgage products, mortgage-backed securities, and/or securitization 
• CFA Candidate or Charter holder, pursuing an accounting designation, or CPA holder 
• Knowledge and experience with Excel macros and VBA coding 
• Experience with trading system migration and change management
