Research Program and Collaboration Management, Manager
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Research Program and Collaboration Management (RPCM) Team is seeking an enthusiastic and performance-driven Project and Collaboration Manager. In this vital role you will support multiple Research Project Teams in partnership with the relevant Program Team Leads (PTLs), helping to establish and maintain a high-performing operating process that connects team execution tactics with program strategy.
You will work across a matrix environment to help drive core project management fundamentals, including cross-functional meeting management, agendas, minutes, decisions/actions, integrated project plans, timelines, and awareness of risks, issues, and dependencies. Your work will help enable high-quality team discussions, governance preparedness, and execution. This is a highly visible position that will apply fit-for-purpose project management to advance pipeline projects through Amgen's governance process and toward clinical candidate nomination.
Additionally, in instances when programs are partnered with Amgen's external alliance partners, you may also support collaboration management activities and serve as a point of contact for alliance execution and agreement-related questions, helping to enable effective joint governance and delivery of partnership obligations.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Responsibilities
Partners with Project Team Leads (PTL) to charter teams, develop core documents, establish timelines and budgets, and align project tactics with project strategy.
Partners with PTLs to plan for and successfully navigate Amgen governance requirements.
Manages project timelines and monitors team adherence to project plans; is accountable for ensuring project plans and timelines are entered and updated in the enterprise system
Facilitates effective project meetings and manages change in a matrix environment.
Liaises with Senior PTLs to manage each therapeutic area portfolio.
Identifies resource gaps and works with the Project Team to resolve, taking appropriate action when necessary.
Drives optimal approaches across teams and develops and implements fit-for-purpose tools to efficiently support Project Teams.
The position is based in either San Francisco, CA or Thousand Oaks, CA. It is open to remote, with a preference for the ability to support working hours in the Pacific Time zone.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 2 years of directly related experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of directly related experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 8 years of directly related experience
 OR
High school diploma / GED and 10 years of directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree and 2+ years of research experience in either Oncology, Inflammation, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, or Rare Disease space.
2+ years of demonstrated fit-for-purpose project management experience supporting research programs in the biopharmaceutical industry
Strong scientific acumen and experience advancing biotechnology/pharmaceutical research programs through a research stage-gate process
Strong competencies in planning, project management, and organization with the ability to lead multiple activities in parallel while maintaining a focus on quality
Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team or matrix environment, to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external department staff at various levels, and to influence others effectively; able to build and collaborate with a cross-functional network.
Creative and critical problem-solving skills with high comfort in ambiguous situations.
Self-directed quick learner who is proactive and takes initiative, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and a demonstrated ability to grasp general knowledge of multiple fields.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to synthesize information, identify issues, and communicate risks, dependencies, and decisions clearly
Experience working with internal and/or external stakeholders in a matrixed environment
Experience supporting partnerships, collaborations, or alliances with pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology organizations
Experience interpreting and applying contractual terms to support execution of a business relationship

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
