Senior HCL Commerce

Our team is looking for aSenior HCL Commerceprofessionalwho has strong knowledge of commerce platform development and modern web technologies, and who can support B2B business needs while delivering applications successfully in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop application components, including WCS storefront and business logic, Java/Spring Boot services, and Next.js / React storefront work as assigned
• Participate in gathering requirements, documenting, and designing HCL Commerce / WCS functionality and related enhancements
• Support application integration testing, integration development, data conversion, and cut-over activities
• Design, develop, and implement multi-tier commerce applications to support B2B business requirements, including punchout and other customer purchasing-system channels
• Create and review designs that identify reusability, performance issues, and best practices for Commerce, REST/SOAP services, and Java
• Support the full life cycle of storefront pages, store data, store business logic, customization of WebSphere / HCL Commerce tools, and integration with back-end systems
• Implement Java-based solutions for public-facing B2B websites based on business requirements, and extend or consume Spring Boot APIs that wrap or replace Commerce capabilities
• Contribute to Next.js / React storefront work, including pages and data fetching, to keep migrated and unmigrated journeys consistent
• Perform unit testing before moving code/configuration to QA, and research defects to identify root causes across WCS, Spring Boot, and Next.js
• Identify key barriers and core problems, and apply problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a dual-run architecture

Requirements

• 5-10 years of overall IT experience is required
• 5+ years of expertise in HCL Commerce and/or IBM WebSphere Commerce (WCS) 8.x is needed, covering store customization, business logic, tools, catalog/order/user flows, and integration with back-end systems
• 5+ years of Java development and OOD skills on large IT systems are required, with J2EE on WebSphere Application Server strongly preferred
• 3+ years of experience in Spring, Spring MVC, and hands-on Spring Boot, including REST APIs and service integration, is needed
• 5+ years of experience in web services, including REST and SOAP, is required
• 5+ years of experience in source control is required, with Git mandatory and SVN/CVS acceptable as prior experience
• 3+ years of experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is required, along with mandatory experience in Next.js and React; TypeScript is preferred
• Experience with Agile delivery using Atlassian tools, including Jira, Bitbucket/Git, and Confluence, is expected
• Strong communication skills and proven team player capability are essential

Nice to have

• Background in B2B commerce, punchout, and/or mobile commerce business models
• Familiarity with headless or composable commerce patterns, including API-first storefronts that consume Commerce or BFF/microservices; MuleSoft or similar iPaaS experience is a plus
• Knowledge of additional JS frameworks, such as Angular or Vue, as secondary experience
• Exposure to search (Solr), session/page cache (Redis or similar), and CMS-driven storefronts such as Optimizely or equivalent alongside a commerce engine
• Understanding that Preview and Runtime Commerce stacks are distinct environments rather than identical ones
