Senior HCL Commerce

We're looking for aSenior HCL Commerce expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in commerce platform development and modern web technologies, helping meet B2B business needs and ensuring smooth application delivery within an Agile framework.

Responsibilities

• Build and design application components, covering WCS storefront and business logic, Java/Spring Boot services, and assigned Next.js / React storefront tasks
• Help collect requirements and document/design HCL Commerce / WCS features and enhancements
• Assist with integration testing, integration development, data conversion, and cut-over tasks
• Architect and build multi-tier commerce applications for B2B needs, including punchout and other customer purchasing-system channels
• Develop and evaluate designs for reusability, performance, and best practices across Commerce, REST/SOAP services, and Java
• Manage the complete lifecycle of storefront pages, store data, business logic, WebSphere/HCL Commerce tool customization, and back-end system integration
• Build Java-based solutions for B2B public websites, and extend or consume Spring Boot APIs that wrap or replace Commerce functionality
• Work on Next.js / React storefront features, including pages and data fetching, to maintain consistency between migrated and unmigrated journeys
• Run unit tests prior to QA handoff, and investigate defects to find root causes across WCS, Spring Boot, and Next.js
• Spot major obstacles and core issues, using problem-solving skills to troubleshoot within a dual-run architecture

Requirements

• 5-10 years of overall IT experience
• 5+ years working with HCL Commerce and/or IBM WebSphere Commerce (WCS) 8.x, covering store customization, business logic, tools, catalog/order/user flows, and back-end integration
• 5+ years of Java development and OOD experience on large IT systems; J2EE on WebSphere Application Server strongly preferred
• 3+ years working with Spring, Spring MVC, and hands-on Spring Boot, including REST APIs and service integration
• 5+ years working with web services, including REST and SOAP
• 5+ years using source control with Git required; SVN/CVS experience acceptable
• 3+ years with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; Next.js and React experience required; TypeScript preferred
• Experience delivering in Agile environments using Atlassian tools such as Jira, Bitbucket/Git, and Confluence
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well in a team

Nice to have

• Experience with B2B commerce, punchout, and/or mobile commerce business models
• Understanding of headless or composable commerce patterns, including API-first storefronts consuming Commerce or BFF/microservices; MuleSoft or similar iPaaS experience is a plus
• Familiarity with other JS frameworks like Angular or Vue as a secondary skill
• Exposure to search tools (Solr), session/page caching (Redis or similar), and CMS-driven storefronts like Optimizely or equivalent paired with a commerce engine
• Ability to distinguish between Preview and Runtime Commerce stacks rather than treating them as identical environments
