Mainframe Architect

We are seeking a seasonedMainframe Architect to define the strategic direction, security posture, and lifecycle governance of our enterprise Mainframe environment, with deep expertise in ACF2 and identity and access management.

In this role, you will establish security best practices, lead the delivery of complex, cross-functional IAM programs, and provide senior technical leadership to safeguard the integrity, resilience, and compliance of our Mainframe systems across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end analysis, prioritization, and remediation strategy for security assessment findings across directory services related to ACF2/Mainframe
• Define and govern secure configuration baselines and hardening standards across the enterprise
• Oversee operational support and lifecycle management for ACF2, ensuring long-term stability and scalability
• Architect and govern Access Control Facility 2 (ACF2) security rules, resource classes, and access control structures at enterprise scale
• Establish, enforce, and continuously improve security policies and procedures for Mainframe systems
• Lead risk assessments and security audits to proactively identify vulnerabilities and ensure sustained compliance with internal and external regulations (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
• Provide senior technical leadership and strategic direction for integrating ACF2 Global system options with enterprise IAM solutions
• Define monitoring strategies for security logs and reports, and drive response initiatives for unauthorized access or anomalies
• Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to shape secure application development and deployment practices on the Mainframe
• Direct incident response efforts for Mainframe security breaches or policy violations, including post-incident analysis and remediation roadmaps
• Lead complex, enterprise-wide IAM programs, ensuring strong alignment with business objectives, security strategy, and regulatory demands
• Establish and maintain authoritative technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, support runbooks, and troubleshooting guides, setting standards for the broader team

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Mainframe security architecture and engineering
• Advanced expertise in Access Control Facility 2 (ACF2), including security rules, resource classes, and Global system options
• Strong command of Mainframe security policy development, enforcement, and enterprise hardening standards
• In-depth knowledge of digital certificates, Xrole support, and passphrase support
• Proven track record in leading risk assessments, security audits, and driving regulatory compliance (SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
• Demonstrated experience architecting the integration of Mainframe security with enterprise IAM solutions
• Advanced competency in security log monitoring, anomaly detection, and incident response leadership
• Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional IAM programs and oversee code reviews and quality assurance processes
• Solid experience producing and governing technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and support runbooks
• Strategic understanding of current industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices in Mainframe and cybersecurity
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)
