ALTEN LTD UK is looking for aJunior EMC Test Engineer to join its growing electrical engineering team in Coventry.

This role is focused onelectromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and validation, supporting the development of next-generation vehicles, including electric and autonomous platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

EMC Testing (Core Focus)

• Support and conductEMC and electromagnetic test activities on vehicle systems and components
• Assist in test setup, execution, and reporting
• Work with internal and external test facilities

Test Analysis & Reporting

• AnalyseEMC test data and results
• Identify non-compliance issues and support root cause analysis
• Produce clear technical reports and documentation

Compliance & Standards

• Support testing in line withautomotive EMC standards and regulations
• Ensure all activities meet safety, quality, and compliance requirements

Cross-Functional Support

• Work closely with engineering, validation, and supplier teams
• Support issue resolution and continuous improvement activities

Required Skills:

• 2–5 years’ experience 
• Exposure toEMC testing, electromagnetic principles, or lab-based testing
• Strongdata analysis and problem-solving skills
• Interest inautomotive / vehicle systems

Required Qualifications:

• ABachelor’s orMaster’s degree inEngineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

• Exposure toautomotive EMC standards (e.g. CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637)
• Experience working in anEMC test lab environment (internship, placement, or university projects)
• Familiarity withtest equipment such as spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, antennas, and RF amplifiers
• Basic understanding ofvehicle electrical systems / CAN / LIN networks
• Knowledge ofdata analysis tools (e.g. Excel, MATLAB, Python)
• Experience withtest reporting and documentation
• Awareness ofroot cause analysis techniques for test failures
• Exposure toelectric vehicle or high-voltage systems (nice to have)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work withtest procedures and standards
• Good communication skills when working withcross-functional teams
