 ALTEN UK is seeking an experiencedSenior Civil Structural Design Engineer to lead structural design efforts on reinforced concrete and steel structures within theNuclear Island of EPR nuclear power plants. This role is pivotal to ensuring thesafety, integrity, and compliance of critical infrastructure in one of the world’s most demanding engineering environments.Â
This is not commercial building design — it isheavy, complex, reinforced concrete engineering for long-life, safety-critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead an international engineering team onNuclear Island structures forEPR nuclear power plants.
- Design and analyze reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Ensure compliance withEurocode,ETC-C, andnuclear safety standards.
- Assessseismic,dynamic, andconstruction-related loads for structural integrity.
- Collaborate withBIM teams, drafters, and engineers to ensure design coordination.
- Evaluate and implementdesign changes, maintaining compliance and performance.
- Delivertechnical documentation, drawings, and structural specifications.
- Provideon-site support during construction, resolving structural issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee detailing work.
- Liaise withclients,regulators, and construction teams to ensure CDM and safety compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge ofindustry standards, tools, and best practices.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience inRC and steel structure design forlarge scale infrastructure projects.Â
- Solid understanding ofEurocodes
- Proficiency instructural analysis tools like STAAD Pro
- Strong capability inseismic design and complex load assessments.
- Experience supportingconstruction sites, resolving structural challenges in real time.
- Familiarity with3D BIM tools likeTEKLA andNavisworks is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
- ABachelor’s orMaster’s degree inEngineering, or equivalent military experience.
