We are looking for ahands-on Sr. Principal Software Engineer to take ownership of core systems within theAlcon Digital Health (ADI) platform—our global digital ecosystem powering customer and healthcare professional experiences at scale.

The Role (What You’ll Own)

• Define andown architecture for high-scale, cloud-native platforms used globally
• Lead from the front:stay hands-on while guiding engineering teams
• Build and evolvemicroservices ecosystems (Java, Spring Boot, AWS)
• Drive adoption ofAI/GenAI capabilities (AWS Bedrock preferred) into real products—not PoCs
• Partner directly withProduct Management & Customer Ops leaders to shape outcomes
• Set the bar forengineering excellence (DevOps, CI/CD via Azure DevOps, security, reliability)
• Influence technical direction across teams—not just within your scope

Core Experience

• Strong expertise inJava, Spring Boot, microservices architectures
• Proven track record buildingcloud-native systems on AWS
• Experience integrating or scalingAI/GenAI solutions (Bedrock a strong plus)
• Demonstrated ability tolead technically while staying hands-on
• Experience working acrossglobal teams and senior stakeholders

Bonus Points

• Kubernetes, Helm, container platforms
• API security and system design at scale
• Experience indigital health or regulated environments

What You’ll Bring to Alcon

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs. Assoc.+11 yrs.; M.S.+4 yrs.; PhD+3 yrs.) 
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
• 7 Years of Relevant Experience
