JOB OVERVIEW:
We are currently looking to hire an experienced and dedicatedSenior FinCrime Analyst with previous experience in the Payments/Fintech/EMI industry to join our growing Stockholm office!
The successful candidate will form a key part of our 2nd line of Defense, providing independent oversight, monitoring, and assurance over the firm’s financial crime risk management framework. In this role, you will review and challenge the effectiveness of first-line controls, ensuring adherence to applicable AML, CTF, sanctions, and anti-bribery requirements. You will also play a critical role in supporting the MLRO and Compliance leadership in maintaining a strong financial crime control environment, advising on complex cases, and ensuring the firm meets its regulatory obligations.
As a second-line function, you will not be embedded in the day-to-day onboarding or transaction processes, but instead provide objective review, testing, and escalation on financial crime risks. You will collaborate closely with first-line teams while maintaining independence, ensuring policies, procedures, and systems are effective and aligned with both regulatory expectations and the firm’s risk appetite.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provide oversight and challenge first-line financial crime activities, including onboarding, KYC/EDD, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex cases, investigations, and unusual activity identified by the first line.
- Support the MLRO with preparation of internal MI, regulatory reporting, and board reporting on financial crime matters.
- Identify trends, control gaps, and emerging risks, and propose enhancements to the financial crime framework.
- Provide training, guidance, and feedback to first-line colleagues to strengthen awareness and capability in financial crime risk management.
- Assist in responding to regulator, auditor, or bank counterpart queries relating to AML/CTF, sanctions, or anti-bribery risks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in internal systems and compliance platforms.
Liaise with internal stakeholders (Compliance, Risk, Sales, Ops) to resolve any issues or escalations.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- 4–6 years of experience in a relevant Financial Crime/ AML/ Onboarding role, with prior 2nd line or oversight experience strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of AML, CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery, and fraud regulations, ideally within an FCA-regulated environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and maintain independence.
- Proven ability to handle complex cases, escalations, and investigations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting policies, procedures, and reports for senior management. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, office-based environment where teamwork and responsiveness are key to success.
- Experience using financial crime screening tools and systems is an advantage.
