Hourly base pay rate is $22.02 - $33.08/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Lead Shipping & Receiving Operatoroversees inbound and outbound shipment activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with DOT, IATA, and OSHA regulations and coordinating with carriers and internal teams to maintain a smooth logistics operation. This role provides guidance to shipping and receiving team members, drives compliance with safety standards, models adherence to established processes, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by training, coaching, and mentoring team members.  This position will mentor and train others to learn the shipping and receiving processes for EVBS.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and reinforces a safety- and process-driven culture by modeling compliance with operational standards and coaching team members to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance to the shipping and receiving team; assign tasks and monitor performance. 
  • Oversee preparation, packaging, and documentation for outgoing shipments, including hazardous materials, paperwork; updating shipping and receiving software and inventory control systems appropriately.
  • Ensure accurate inspection and verification of incoming and outbound shipments including any and all safety checks that must be completed. 
  • Monitor compliance with DOT, IATA, and OSHA regulations for EV battery handling. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and safety in EVBS logistics.
  • Optimize freight methods and manage shipping costs. 
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory inspections and prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Coordinate with carriers and resolve delivery issues. 
  • Maintain Hazardous Material certification
  • Support cycle counting and inventory reconciliation as needed. 
  • Promote safety-first culture in all shipping and receiving activities. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Operator Certification, as required.
  • May operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as needed
  • May help or coordinate other tasks in the warehouse or inventory areas, as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience in shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a (list any requirements of discipline here) and 5 years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a regulated operations environment, including oversight of processes, work activities, or team coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous materials handling and applicable safety and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in shipping software, ERP systems, and standard workplace tools/applications used in logistics operations.
  • Proven ability to analyze operational issues, implement solutions, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to effectively lead work and influence operational outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in EV battery solutions (EVBS) or automotive logistics environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced leadership experience managing teams or leading complex operations in a highly regulated environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and high-voltage battery handling requirements.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Additional education, technical training, or certifications related to supply chain, logistics, or compliance (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
  • Experience driving process improvements, operational efficiency, or safety initiatives in warehouse or logistics operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 lbs. and perform manual handling tasks throughout the shift with team assisted lifting of heavier items.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) where applicable.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions, including temperature changes, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and attention to detail required to read labels and documents, operate scanners/systems, and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
