The Role

As aDatabase Administrator (DBA) at Air Apps, you will be responsible formanaging, optimizing, and securing large-scale, complex databases. You will work with engineering teams todesign, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and resilient database systems that power our AI-driven platform.

Your role will involvedatabase tuning, backup and recovery strategies, monitoring, and ensuring data integrity while working with structured and unstructured data sources.

• This is afully onsite position, based at our office in Lisbon, where you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in person and contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.We are open to support with relocation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintainhigh-performance database systems to support large-scale applications.

• Optimizedatabase queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning to enhance performance.

• Monitor database health, ensuringhigh availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.

• Manage and fine-tuneSQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB).

• Implementdatabase security policies, encryption, and access control to protect sensitive data.

• Automate databasebackups, replication, and failover mechanisms.

• Work closely with developers to optimizequeries, schema design, and data modeling.

• Performcapacity planning and monitor database growth trends.

• Ensure compliance withdata governance, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.

• Stay updated with the latestdatabase technologies, trends, and best practices.

Requirements

• Around4+ years of experience as aDatabase Administrator (DBA) or similar role.

• Expertise inrelational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and/orNoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB).

• Strong knowledge ofdatabase optimization, indexing, partitioning, and replication.

• Experience inperformance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting slow queries.

• Familiarity withdatabase backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Experience withcloud database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner, Azure SQL).

• Knowledge ofscripting for automation (Python, Bash, SQL scripts).

• Understanding ofdata security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements.

• Experience working withlarge, complex datasets and high-traffic applications.

• Ability to work withDevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD workflows.
