Role Overview:
- Primary hiring focus is an AI Infrastructure Senior Engineer supporting the build-out of the company's Azure-based technology stack.
- The role will be the first hire on the infrastructure engineering team and will work under the infrastructure engineering lead, with support from the broader DevOps and cloud organization.
- The team is building infrastructure that enables developers to move quickly, including Azure-hosted AI models, agents, and related development environments.
- The AI Engineer II role was discussed separately and may already be filled; Jared will confirm its status. The AI Infrastructure Director and Senior DevOps Engineer roles are not currently active hiring priorities.
Key Requirements:
- Approximately three to five years of experience, with a preference toward candidates closer to five years of relevant experience.
- Strong, hands-on Azure infrastructure experience; Azure should be the candidate's primary cloud environment and area of expertise.
- Experience supporting and managing infrastructure pipelines and development build-outs in Azure.
- Experience with Azure AI Foundry, including Azure-hosted models, agents, or related services. Azure OpenAI experience is relevant, but the broader Azure Foundry environment is the primary focus.
- Infrastructure scripting experience and the ability to understand, discuss, and contribute to Terraform-based infrastructure automation.
- Candidates with some AWS or GCP exposure may be considered, but multi-cloud experience is not required.
- Experience with RAG pipelines, LLMs, and broader AI infrastructure is valuable but secondary to strong Azure infrastructure expertise.
- Potentially relevant backgrounds include infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or DevOps, provided the candidate has strong Azure infrastructure depth.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Azure security, identity, key vault, monitoring, or related services may be useful, although Jared was not able to confirm these as strict requirements.
- The ideal candidate will be able to operate as a subject-matter expert, support developers at a fast pace, and communicate effectively with the surrounding DevOps and cloud teams.
Location:
- Chicago is the primary location preference, particularly because the infrastructure engineering lead is based there.
- Houston is also preferred as a potential location.
- Jared is open to considering exceptional candidates in other locations, including New York or fully remote locations, if they are the strongest available fit.
- The broader AI-forward development pods work on-premises in the office, but a specific hybrid schedule for this role was not confirmed.
