The AES Operations team is looking for a Solar Technician with BESS and solid troubleshooting experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, and demonstrate the ability to lead, train, and work with other field personnel.  The position will be based in the Central Massachusetts area with minimal regional travel to attend to various site needs.Â
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Â
Travel to utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities in local region to perform preventative & corrective maintenanceÂ
Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facilityÂ
Coordinate and manage contractors engaged to support maintenance activitiesÂ
Provide limited support for commissioning activitiesÂ
Lead/support warranty claims processes with vendors as needed.Â
Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.Â
Perform work independently and in team environmentsÂ
Desired Skills, Expertise, and Competencies:Â
Proven experience with a variety of electrical equipment and knowledge of basic IT and remote communications equipmentÂ
Experience with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) a plus.Â
Ability to prioritize and plan preventative & corrective maintenance on solar and battery storage equipmentÂ
Understanding general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards and assisting in improving existing standards.Â
Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional and geographically diverse organizationÂ
Pprofessionalism, and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writingÂ
Self-starter, developed interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic necessary, results oriented

Demonstrated ability to research/interpret technical documents and dataÂ

Education / Experience:Â
Technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualificationsÂ
One or more years of experience as a PV (Photo Voltaic) O&M (Operations & Maintenance) solar technicianÂ
One (1) or more years’ experience in power generationÂ
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and electrical theory applicationÂ
Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilitiesÂ
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)Â 10 and NFPA 70e CertificationsÂ

Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high/low humidity areasÂ
Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipmentÂ
Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)Â
May be required to work around energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicalsÂ
Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilitiesÂ
Performs other duties as assignedÂ
Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies, as neededÂ
