Marion Community Bank is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone who has developed a foundation in accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a related financial role and is ready to continue learning and take on additional responsibility over time.

Salary: $40,000–$48,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What You'll Do
You'll support the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including:
- Review and process vendor invoices and scheduled payments
- Maintain vendor records and respond to payment inquiries
- Research and resolve invoice and billing discrepancies
- Reconcile vendor statements and internal accounting records
- Review employee expense reimbursements and reconcile company credit card activity
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end, year-end, and audit-related activities
- Support accounting projects, process improvements, and other departmental needs

We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, professional, and naturally pays attention to the details. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities, communicating with others, and following tasks through to completion.

Banking experience is a plus, but it is not required. Relevant accounting and financial experience from other industries is welcome.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- 1–3 years of accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related financial experience preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to research and resolve discrepancies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential financial and employee information
