The Virtual Preparatory Academy of Florida is a K–12 tuition-free online public school serving students statewide. We are seeking teachers who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. ACCEL Schools uses a cutting-edge 21st-century curriculum, which can be accessed online and through a variety of traditional methods. Â
Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.Â

About the OpportunityÂ
- Manage a caseload of students with disabilities and ensure compliance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with students, parents, general education teachers, and service providers.
- Provide virtual instruction, accommodations, and modifications aligned with each student’s needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the school’s learning management system and special education software.
- Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families regarding academic performance and IEP goal progress.
- Participate in and lead virtual IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and Student Support Team meetings.
- Coordinate required state testing accommodations.
- Ensure compliance with federal and Florida special education laws, including IDEA-Planning standards-based lessons aligned to Florida Access Points, which are alternate academic standards for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
- Use each student’s IEP goals, present levels of performance, and accommodations to individualize instruction while maintaining alignment to grade-level content. Â
- Deliver differentiated instruction through explicit teaching, modeling, guided practice, visual supports, assistive technology, and other evidence-based strategies appropriate for the student’s level of complexity. Â
- Use the Essential Understandings (EUs) to scaffold learning toward mastery of the Access Points standards. Â
- Monitor student progress through formative assessments, collecting data, and adjusting instruction based on student performance. Â
- Collaborate with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and IEP teams to ensure students receive appropriate supports and access to the general education curriculum. Â
- Prepare students, when appropriate, for the Florida Alternate Assessment (FAA), which is aligned to the Access Points standards.Â
About YouÂ
- Current State teaching license in appropriate content areaÂ
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core StandardsÂ
- Preferred two years’ experience teachingÂ
- High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoringÂ
- High quality written and verbal communication skillsÂ
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and OutlookÂ
- Ability to properly manage confidential informationÂ
- Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at a timeÂ
- Ability to supervise students in all school settingsÂ
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checksÂ
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferredÂ
