Job Summary


The VP of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading a global manufacturing engineering organization to define and execute all aspects of the company’s manufacturing technology roadmaps, to work with our global operations teams on critical new product and process technology qualifications, and to oversee the global engineering services and laboratory organization. You will work closely with the technology, operations, and commercial leaders of each Business Unit(BU)as well as executives at key customers for thelong-term planningof all aspects of the company’s assembly, test, and product technology roadmaps. This role will also interface with customersand our sales teams torepresent Flex capabilities and develop new opportunities. You will overseea portfolio of programs fortheintroduction ofnew technology and qualification of our sites for newassembly andtest processes.This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing technologies acrossmany industries, andexpertise across the full product development process and lifecycle.Will lead Assembly & Test Technology Team in San Jose, Engineering Services team in Guadalajara (AME Lab, VAVE and Mfg. Process Dev teams) as well as Process/Product qualification team responsible to support early engagement especially closer toNPI/Ramp.
What a typical day looks like:
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the BU President, to develop and implement strategic programs and initiatives.
Develop people and buildteam for world-class program management and execution Develop annual/3 yr horizon technology roadmap based on assessed gaps.
Technology development roadmap to be based on internal gaps,on industry trends and needs, customer ask, and business unit forecast based on sales forecast, sales misses, site readiness and AME’s own projections.
Technology discovery and development should be balanced with existingbudget and new budgets needed for resources including testvehicle and supplier development cost.
Serve as a key member of the management team thatsets the company’s strategic direction.
Formulate long-termobjectives and standards of performance for the department.
Assure that department achievesobjectives and project completion within budget andtime frame.
Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the companymaintains and expands its manufacturing technology leadership position.
Motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, recognizing therole as that of both manager and support resource/mentor.
Hire and direct staff of senior group members toacquire necessary resources to meet scheduled commitments.

Brazing, welding, coating, potting, joining
Surface cleaning, plasma treating, various mechanical technologies
Laser bonding, ribbon bonding, resistive welding
Integrated Technology Solutions (ITS)
AdvancedPCB fabrication, PCBA,SMT‑to‑final assembly
ASICs, CPUs, GPUs, complex BGAs,Optical packages (CPO/CPC)
Thermal management (heatsinks,STIM, liquid cooling, cold plates)
Wire harness, connectors, cable management
Automation systems (semi/fully automated)
Mechanical repair, rework, reuse technologies supporting sustainability
P/L experience and strong financial acumen.
High-level/global communication, executive communication experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
