The Role

The Director of Operational Excellence is responsible for driving operational performance, execution excellence, and organizational effectiveness across Tieto Tech Consulting

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role ensures that business priorities and strategic objectives are translated into concrete actions and delivered through effective governance, strong performance management, and operational discipline. Working across functions, geographies, and business units, the Head of Operational Excellence drives accountability, execution, and the successful implementation of strategic priorities across the organization.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role focused on enabling the organization to operate efficiently, predictably, and at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Performance and Execution

• Drive operational performance through structured follow-up, effective governance, and strong execution management.
• Translate strategic priorities into tactical and operational plans with clear ownership, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
• Own and drive the Operational plan process 
• Ensure strategic priorities, business initiatives, and transformation programs are delivered according to agreed objectives and timelines.
• Develop and lead market & business intelligence to set right priorities and sequencing of tactical and operational initiatives
• Lead operational reviews and monitor key performance indicators.
• Drive accountability and corrective actions where needed.

Governance and Business Management

• Establish and maintain effective governance structures and performance management processes.
• Coordinate operational reviews and leadership forums.
• Improve transparency, consistency, and accountability through structured reporting.
• Ensure follow-up and execution of key decisions and actions.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

• Drive initiatives that improve efficiency, simplify processes, and reduce operational complexity.
• Promote standardization, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve performance.
• Ensure that improvements are effectively embedded into day-to-day operations.

Financial and Operational Planning

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning processes.
• Partner with Finance and business leaders to improve productivity, utilization, and profitability.
• Ensure business decisions are supported by relevant operational insights and data.
• Monitor operational performance and support actions required to achieve business objectives.

Leadership and Culture

• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and execution excellence.
• Support and challenge leaders in delivering agreed commitments.
• Act as a trusted operational partner to the Managing Director and leadership team.
• Drive alignment across teams and functions to ensure effective execution of key priorities.

Key Success Factors

• Proven experience driving operational performance and execution in a consulting, technology, or professional services organization.
• Strong background in governance, performance management, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution and measurable business outcomes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive accountability in a matrix environment.
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and results-oriented leadership style.
• Strong business acumen combined with a passion for operational excellence
