The Winch Transport Erector Assistant fulfils a shift role on a shaft. The team is responsible for the removal, transport and installation of winches as determined by production planning in a defined section of the mine.

Removal of winches from site

• Ensure availability and operational status of safety devices and equipment
• Ensure unit is available and prepared for removal
• Lift and move unit from site to transport facility

 Transport of units to and from sites

• Ensure availability of locomotive and material cars
• Load and secure units
• Assist in transport of unit to required destination
• Offload and move unit to site

 Install units at required sites

• Confirm site preparation meets required standards
• Request assistance for specialized tasks
• Prepare bed

• Grade 12/NQF Level 4 (Numeracy and Literacy)
• Passed winch transport and installation specific modules

Experience

• Six months related underground experience
