Position Summary

The Loading Dock Lead is responsible for supporting daily Shipping and Receiving operations while ensuring compliance with USDA, HACCP, SSOP, food safety, quality, and safety standards. This position assists with department setup, staffing assignments, workflow coordination, equipment operation, and team member support. The Lead serves as a resource for production employees and may assume supervisory responsibilities during supervisor absences.

Pay is $21.95 per hour PLUS an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare the department for daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, HACCP requirements, SSOP procedures, and company food safety standards.
• Monitor grading service checks and communicate quality concerns or errors to appropriate personnel.
• Assist in making staffing assignments based on attendance, product flow, and production requirements.
• Relieve production line personnel as needed.
• Fill in for absent employees when necessary.
• Perform wash-down and sanitation activities during scheduled breaks.
• Maintain department housekeeping and cleanliness standards.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, yard trucks, and other powered industrial equipment in a safe manner.
• Complete daily inspections of equipment and report maintenance concerns.
• Recharge industrial equipment batteries according to established safety procedures.
• Support and promote a safe work environment.
• Serve as acting supervisor during supervisor absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to make decisions regarding staffing and workflow needs.
• Ability to follow food safety, quality assurance, and safety procedures.
• Must be licensed and qualified to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and yard trucks as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of shipping and receiving operations.
• Understanding of USDA, HACCP, and sanitation requirements.
• Ability to lead and direct team members.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and follow corrective actions.
• Ability to work effectively with supervisors, production employees, and support departments.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking throughout the facility.
• Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, and reaching.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in cold environments.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
• Ability to lift and move materials as required by operational needs.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to:

• Cold temperatures.
• High noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
• Forklift, pallet jack, and yard truck traffic.
• Production and warehouse equipment.
• Wet floors and other potential slip, trip, and fall hazards.

• Food safety and sanitation training
• Department-specific safety training
