OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Manager – External Affairs and Social Performance to drive stakeholder engagement, social performance, and responsible business practices across our global operations.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer, you will provide strategic leadership across stakeholder and issues management, human rights, modern slavery, responsible supply chains, and sustainable development, helping strengthen our social licence to operate and long-term business success.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of group and site external affairs strategies, stakeholder engagement priorities and annual plans.
  • Monitor political, regulatory, socioeconomic and stakeholder developments, providing timely analysis and coordinated recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Develop high-quality stakeholder maps, engagement plans, executive briefings, submissions, presentations and related materials.
  • Establish and maintain constructive relationships with government, industry bodies, host communities, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen social performance practices across community relations, grievance management, social risk, human rights and community investment.
  • Coordinate OceanaGold’s annual Modern Slavery Statement and support governance, due diligence and continuous improvement across responsible supply chain practices.
  • Develop sustainable development and local content initiatives that deliver enduring value for host communities and the business.
  • Support assurance, reporting, digital systems, training and capability development across corporate and site teams.
  • Manage assigned projects, consultants, budgets, schedules and deliverables, maintaining a strong commitment to safety, respectful engagement and cultural awareness.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public policy, communications, sustainability, human rights, business, law, or equivalent experience. Advanced qualifications are advantageous.
  • 7+ years' experience in external affairs, stakeholder engagement, government relations, social performance, sustainability, or a related field, ideally within mining, resources, or infrastructure.
  • Experience developing and delivering stakeholder engagement, community, or external affairs strategies.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder management, social performance, reputation risk, and regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with government, communities, industry, and other key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of human rights and social performance frameworks, including responsible mining practices.
  • Strong communication, influencing, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex issues and work effectively across site, corporate, and senior leadership teams.
  • International or multi-site experience is highly regarded.
  • Commitment to safety, inclusion, and culturally respectful engagement.
