What You'll Be Doing:

As a Data Engineer at ZAHN, you will help transform our prototype into a fully functional scalable app for users to experience. Your initial primary responsibilities will include:

Setting up scalable database infrastructure
Migrating large volumes of open source OpenStreetMap and crime data into our internal infrastructure
Processing data for navigation algorithm integration
Building the foundation for advanced pathfinding and machine learning algorithms
Shaping the internal processes of the Tech Team
Nurturing, and contributing to our dynamic company culture!

What You'll Be Using:

Our core technologies and tools include:

Database: Postgres
Backend: Django
Frontend: React Native
Infrastructure: Heroku (we'll need to move to a more scalable solution before public release, and you'll be instrumental in implementing this transition)

Interview Process:

1st Round:A quick 20-minute call to get to know each other. No preparation required
2nd Round:A 1-hour technical interview with our Tech Lead
3rd Round: A 1-hour culture fit and behavioural interview with our CEO/Founder and Tech Lead. We understand that interviewing can be a lengthy process, so this session is intended as a final alignment check rather than a deciding factor

Our Tech Lead and Founder will be personally conducting the entire interview process, ensuring each interaction is genuine and authentic.

You are passionate about startups and ZAHN's mission
You are able to set up a scalable database tech infrastructure from scratch
You are able to migrate large amounts of data to an internal scalable database infrastructure
You have an awareness of pathfinding and machine learning algorithms to influence the development process
Must be based in the UK

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000, dependent on experience
