GENERAL SUMMARY

TheManager of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) and Teen Programswill play a valuable role in connecting the education programs of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with the community. Theywillbethe primary administratorfor annual planning and day-to-day operationsof the ASYO andas wellas supporting theASYO Music Director andVicePresident(VP)of Education and CommunityEngagement inthe direction, evaluation, andcontinued success of the ensemble.The ASYO performs 3-5 public events a year and rehearses approximately 30 Saturdays per season.The Manager of ASYO and Teen Programs will also work with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Education department to implementprograms engaging teens in the community including the VIVOSummerString Institute (4-days),UpTempo Teen Nights (15+ events/year) and Masterclasses (5+ events/year).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra to include:

Leadregular ASYO team check-in meetings between the ASYO Music Director, VP of Education and Community Engagement, andother relevant staff
Act as on-site event manager for all ASYO related activities
Communicate weekly+with all students and parents on specifics of rehearsals, concerts, and other relevant information
Manage season schedule (including reserving spaces) and communicate updates to staff, musicians, students, and families
Communicate and manage all operational needs for rehearsals and performances (on and off site of Symphony Hall; inclusive of tours)
Managescheduling andlogistics forsectionalcoachings by ASO musicians
Track andsubmit all direct financial expenses and revenue
Collaborate with the ASO Library for ASYO needs
Maintain an active parent volunteer group; managetheir involvement
Plan, manage, and execute annual auditions

Plan, manage, and execute the annual concerto competition
Execute the recruitment and marketing plans
Collaborate, plan, and manage ASYO Chamber Players
Manage opportunities such as community performances, college recruiter visits, masterclasses, etc.
Communicate and engage alumni and other interested stakeholders
Grow the impact of the ASYO through relevant changes over time
Report regularly to the VP of Education and Community Engagement

Management of Teen Programs to include:

Oversee the vision and implementation of the ASO’s VIVO Summer String Institute (4-Day String Camp)
Manage the teen-focused engagement program for teens (UpTempo)
In collaboration with the ASO Education team, manage a designated Masterclass series (3-5)
Collaborate with the ASO team foroperational needs, calendar and room scheduling, sales, marketing, and finance of the above programs
Work closely with the Education team for cross-planning and execution of department activities
Oversee teachingartists and program assistants
Act asan ambassador with internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachlor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in music or arts administration
Preference for prior playing experience inan instrumental ensemble
Two years of experience in ensemble management,orchestral operations, or similar field; preference for youth organizations
Demonstrated passion for music education

Detail oriented and highly organized
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to take initiative and problem solve
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Above averageproficiencyin computer software programs, with an emphasis on email and database programs. Microsoft Office suite, MailChimp, and organizational support software a plus.
Ability to work well in a team
Experience networking andrepresenting an organization amongst a variety of stakeholders
Preferred prior position of supervising others or similar leadership role

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF WORK/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Manager of ASYO and Teen Programs is a full-time, exempt position with hours and days of work which may vary based on program activities.This position willinclude nights and weekendscoinciding with the schedules of the ASYO and teen program events.

While conditions may alter the amount of time spent in any one area, the expectation is that the position will becomprised of ASYO 70% of the time and Teen Programs 30% of the time.
