Job Description

Work fully integrated into our founding team, solving real-world problems through code that will directly impact our users.
Work on interesting projects in one or multiple areas, including back-end, front-end web, mobile app, or infrastructure.
Learn with guidance, support, and mentorship from our founders & senior engineers.

Qualifications

Growth-minded and keen on always improving yourself through learning and experimentation.
Effective problem solver and feel challenged by interesting problems.
Strong in CS fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
Familiar with top programming languages, database systems, version control.
Available to work at least 30-40 hours per week on a remote basis. It is fine if you have classes as long as you can commit to the internship.

Technology

Backend
- Primary service is written in Python with Django to enable fast development and rapid iterations. We are exploring Golang & Rust for services that require higher performance & lower latency.
- Database is in PostgreSQL. It's proven to be stable, robust, and scalable.
Client-side (Web)
- We are using ReactJS, Redux, and NextJS.
- Everything is deployed through Netlify & Netlify SSR.
Client-side (Android)
- Native Android in Kotlin. We need the lightweightness, performance, and device compatibility of Native Android to support as many users as possible. Our target market is mostly mid-low income with mid-low phone specs. We have tried React Native & Flutter for mid-low segment, but Native Android trumps them in terms of lightweightness, performance, and device compatibility.
Infrastructure
- Majority of our services are in AWS (Amazon Web Service).
- We use Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) with Terraform to systemize and track every changes to our infra.
Toolings
- Slack. Github. Sentry. Linear. Mixpanel. Bitrise. Sendgrid. Firebase.
Future evolutions
- Our philosophy in choosing technology stacks is to choose the simplest, easiest to learn, and easiest to code with. Our strength as an early-stage startup is in fast development and rapid iterations to deliver value to our users fast.
- When we reached a milestone that requires more scalability, performance, and sophistication, we are open to other technologies. As a tech company, we will keep on researching and leveraging the latest advancements.
