In the US, 80% of healthcare spend occurs in 20% of patients. We aim to drastically reduce this cost through modern software, hardware, and preventative care services. Our core device, the UrinDx, combines continuous urinary diagnostics and machine-learning trained on identifying health exacerbations to allow patients to track changes in their health over time at home by monitoring changes in their urine over time. All without having to change anything about their daily bathroom routine. Its core connected software product is a platform to help doctors monitor the health of their patients through tracking changes in key compositional changes in the urine of such patients, so that physicians and patients can stay aligned without direct interaction. In review of this data on a monthly basis by our nursing staff, our remote patient monitoring platform generates repeatable recurring revenues per patient on our platform for Starling and for our physician partners. If our Starling care team and AI algorithms identify significant issues with the patient, we can then triage them to a PCP or to their urologists for a higher acuity investigation. In this process, we expect to significantly improve the patient and physician experience while greatly driving down chronic management costs through hospitalization reductions.

We expect this engineer to grow as a leader in the company. We are seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to manage the R&D portfolio, including but not limited to: * Identify and establish key R&D milestones that progress the internal development of both current and future products, * Plan all the necessary research steps required to meet these milestones, * Lead a small interdisciplinary team to achieve said milestones, * Coordinate with other departments and members of the Starling team. In addition, we expect the individual in this role to: * Design, build and test new prototypes and technologies that impact future product development directions as well as provide actionable insights for products currently on the market * Make recommendations to the hardware team regarding evidence-based augmentations for future designs * Provide technical support for hardware issues * Follow industry-standard processes and procedures Required Minimum Education of Experience: * BS in Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of related industry experience OR * Master’s degree with 3+ years of related industry experience Nice to Have: * Proficiency in Solidworks or equivalent * Experience with rapid prototyping and testing * Experience working with Quality Systems for medical devices and related software * Excellent software design, problem solving and debugging skills * Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) wireless communication
